I love this picture for some many reasons. Looking at the fine details of accessoires, the rich leather bags the beige colours and the oversized blazer and heavy knit sweater it all comes together as a perfect mix. C’est tres chic!

Corina Vladescu | Designer Spotlight

Posted: Thursday, 15 April 2010 | Posted by Oana V. | Labels: , , , , , , 1 comments

At the age of 27 and having created her signature brand “Corina Vladescu” the young designer has realised to do what she loves most – creating ingeniously cut clothes with a feminine and sophisticated but still edgy groove. After graduating from the University of Fine Arts and Design in Bucharest with a master degree in Fashion and her diploma collection entirely bought we can call Corina Vladescu the most talented Romanian designer of the moment.

During her study years she worked from being a freelance designer to making a reputation as a stylist for national Romanian tv and famous fashion magazines such as Elle, Glamour and Comsopolitan amongst many others.

After launching two pret-a-porter womenswear collections in 2008, she was assigned to making costumes for  the National Opera of Bucharest. Her undisputed talent lead her to become Madonna’s personal fashion assistent.

Since the launch of her signature brand in 2008 Corina Vladescu has been invited to present her label at the Oxford Fashion Week amongst designers like the unforgettable Alexander McQueen and Marithe et Francois Girbaud. Corina Vladescu was the only Romanian fashion designer invited to exhibit her SS 2010 collection at Who’s next Salon de Pret-a-Porter in Paris. Her collection was spotted by Topshop Edit. While participating at Who’s Next salon her collection was selected for Rendez-Vous Paris Femmes. The showcase is opened during Paris Fashion week, housing designers and brands who are at the forefront of nowadays fashion.

Her most recent show was during the Athens Fashion Week in March 2010 where she presented her F/W 2010/2011 collection which earned her great acclaim from media and fashion critics. Watch the video

While her personal webpage is currently under construction you can find out more about her on her blog, become a fan on facebook or get connected with her on twitter.

I instantly fell in love with her designs both of her previous and current collections. Her latest designs struck me with a softer signature and less rock attitude. The F/W 2010/2011 collection’s basic colours are grey, soft nudes from pale to light pink, black and white. Corina Vladescu doesn’t fail to create deconstructed pieces with a strong focus on pleated details or pleasingly unexpected ruffles which define her new simplicity. Corina Vladescu might still be considered as a designer newcomer but I’m sure we will be seeing her collections worn from Paris to London.

Anna Dello Russo | Wardrobe Check

The only thing I really dislike about travelling is that I need to organise my suitcase and put together a decent selection of clothes together that a) match together and b) are adequate to my destinations' weather situation. So there I am ending up spending what appears to me an endless amount of time with sorting out my travelling wardrobe. It just doesn’t get any better. If I could I would end up packing together my entire closet…but then we know that this doesn’t necessarily make things easier for me. So when reading that fashion director and creative consultant Anna Dello Russo packs up trunks of outfits for the fashion weeks, I’m relieved that a) I’m not her and b) I’m not her personal assistant.

“…for fashion shows, I remember that I used to need 30 outfits. Today, for the fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris. I have to bring at least 90 outfits." [grazia, fashionologie]
