Zara Lookbook May 2010 | Look Book Inspiration
Runway Look | Trend Alert | Balmain vs. Zara
Yesterday I passed by the Zara shopping window and had to stop and take this picture. I can only, or probably not, imagine what people were thinking of me taking pictures of a shopping window. On the other hand Zara obviously continues to introduce to it’s S/S 2010 collection to pieces in the style of Balmain. I do like the jackets though not a big fan of the t-shirts with holes – for any of you who are looking to give your outfit a bit of airing during the hot season – with a bit of DIY you can add a bit of unique touch of your own.
Royal Blue | Strong Shoulders | Leather Jacket
Whew, what a fabulous and inspiring combination. I am totally thrilled by this jacket and if it’s available I would buy it right away. I found these spot-on trendy styling images on Betty’s blog – one of my favourite fashion blogs. I need to check out Bebe’s online store and raid it for this royal blue treasure. I’m avoiding to estimate the price, let me foolishly believe its affordable…

Some more Zara shots
I know I have made a previous post on Zara’s new Fall campaign, but being a huge fan of fashion clothing at affordable prices, I just had to create a follow-up featuring these casual but sensational boyfriend jeans. All three looks pairing boyfriend jeans with an classic, oversized white shirt, combining them with a military jacket or keeping it striking with the this bold leopard cropped sleeves jacket are inspirational for my fall wish-list.
Sculpting Your Shoulders – Fall 09
Balmain set the current hysteria trend over 80s sculpted shoulders on jackets, blouses and dresses earlier this spring. While through this years spring/summer collection the military inspired jackets with a Russian twist reminded us of Madonna in the 80s, this years fall designs head in a more refined smothered-down look. Now this years fall trend on bold shoulders is beyond popular and makes its appearance in all the major fashion shows, clearly it's a style not to be missed.
Looking back in fashion history, accentuated shoulders started in the early 30s when fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli included them in 1931, the style carried on through the 40s but was influenced by militarised jackets and coats which in the late 40s were universal in Women's Fashion. Comparing the periods of the 30s, 40s and the 80s (when the bold shoulders celebrated their comeback and were re-interpreted by flashy and eccentric looks, which some of us still dreadfully remember), with today, its statement remains the same: power dressing for strong women who face today's economic crisis and will choose to be an effective counter during these difficult times.
Having said this how can I not be a huge fan of those shoulders and while I will not give up my dream of ever affording a Balmain jacket, I spotted that look for this forthcoming season at Zara's new fall collection. So while still dreaming about Balmain and Dolce, I will most likely snatch one of Zara's and pair it with some tie-dyed jeans to make a statement.
